Spring 2016

Spring came this year with fairly warm temperatures and John getting back to work at Glen Erin early.  Amber had concerts at school and John and London came to watch.  We spent the first few weekends relaxing at home and then went up to Stevens Point for John's dad's annual bowling tournament to benefit Dapper Deer (his white-tailed deer themed clothing line).  Bowling with some of John's siblings was fun as always and later that night Amber and John got to meet up with Greg and Ellen for dinner while London stayed with Grandma Mary and Papa Mike.  It was a nice little trip!

The next weekend was Easter.  London and Amber went to an Easter Egg Hunt in Janesville with friends Sue and Allison.  London got to meet the Easter Bunny and just like with Santa Claus she was not afraid of going up to talk with him.  We woke up on Easter Sunday with gifts from the Easter Bunny, colored Easter eggs and then headed to church.  Later that afternoon Grandma Diane, Papa Steve and Auntie Michelle came down to Janesville for Easter Dinner.  We had ham, cheesy potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls and dessert.  It was nice to celebrate and host dinner for everyone.

The next day Amber and her friend Melissa flew to Seattle to see the sights and hang out with Amber's cousin Matthias.  His internship moved him from New York to Seattle.  Both Amber and Melissa had never been to Seattle so it was a perfect way to see the city and spend some time with Matthias.  They had a great time seeing the sights, drinking many craft beers and walking a lot!  The weather was sunny and in the upper 60's and low 70's which made the trip even better!  They can't wait to go back...maybe next time they'll bring their husbands.

The month of April came with some warmer temperatures and longer daylight hours.  We had to go to Frosty Freeze for our first soft serve ice cream cones of the season.

The next weekend the Beeman family and the Oberstadt family all came to Janesville to hang out.  We had fun letting the kids play, grilling brats and burgers and chatting.  It's always nice to see friends!  The middle of April was Stevens Point Trivia.  John was in Stevens Point from Friday until Monday and Amber, London and Auntie Michelle came up for the weekend to cheer on Festivus for the Rest of Us!  FFTROU won this year!  It was an exciting weekend for everyone!

Soon it was May and John was working a lot of hours at Glen Erin, Amber was in the midst of crazy end-of-school things and London was getting ready for her first dance recital.  Amber and John also had a date night while London had a girls night with Auntie Michelle and the next day we all got to see the musical "Pinkalicious" at the Janesville Armory and have a yummy lunch at Citrus Cafe.

The next weekend was busy but very fun.  On Friday May 20th London performed in her very first dance recital.  She did a great job dancing ballet to "High Hopes."  It was so cute to see her class (made up of 3 and 4 year olds) working so hard on their moves and smiling at the audience.  London has loved her first year of dance class and will continue taking dance this coming fall.  The next day we headed up to Green Bay/Appleton because on Sunday May 22nd John and Amber's brother Adam ran in the Green Bay Cellcom Half Marathon at Lambeau Field.  Both John and Adam beat their times from last year and it was a nice day for us spectators too!

We finished off the month of May with a fun time in Madison on Memorial Day weekend.  We spent some time walking around State Street and Capital Square, had dinner at The Great Dane and then ended the evening with a visit to Brat Fest for some rides and fireworks!

Spring brought Amber a trip to Seattle, John a Trivia win, London a first dance recital and we had some great times hanging out as a family.  Overall it was pretty awesome!  Until next time...Go Pack Go!
